IT managers that attempt to implement an Open Source Software (OSS) 
system without adequate planning are setting up the project for failure. 
Introducing OSS into an enterprise requires careful preparation in terms 
of overall needs, process, people, and technology. Info-Tech's Readiness 
Assessment worksheet is a tool for IT managers to determine whether or 
not the enterprise is sufficiently prepared for OSS. This tool includes:

    *

      A total of 17 questions that address specific crucial areas to
      prepare for OSS in terms of overall needs, process, people, and
      technology. For each question, there are two possible answers:
      Yes, which has a score of one; and No, which has a score of zero.
      As the IT manager responds to the questions, the tool
      automatically calculates the overall readiness score and
      identifies areas that require improvement.

      A readiness assessment section that analyzes the overall score and
      provides a final answer about whether or not the enterprise is
      ready to get into OSS. This section also recommends next steps on
      which the IT manager can move forward depending on each course of
      action.
