hi chaps,

we're in the midst of organizing an informal get-together and drink up to
coincide with the GK3 (http://www.gkpeventsonthefuture.org/gk3/) event to
be held in kl from dec 11-13, 2007. just as an informal show of hands, how
many of you would be interested in coming for this and would be able to
make it ?

Subject: VoIP workshop in Kuala Lumpur in December

Hi Dinesh I use asterisk but I'm primarily a devoted user of freebsd so
I read your posts to the asterisk-bsd list. Thanks for your tips and
patches and work on Asterisk to get it running on the platform of choice
for discerning users!

I wanted to let you know about a VoIP workshop in Kuala Lumpur that will
be happening December 11th-13th. The Telecentre.org village exposition
at "GK3" will be having a few workshops on asterisk and VoIP lead by the
partners of IT+46 http://www.it46.se/ - Alberto Escudero Pascual and
Louise Berthilson. They will be having 3 x 1.5 hour sessions during the
event but they'd also like something informal to happen like a BoF or
"Unconference" style meet up. Do you think there'd be any interest in
that? Would you be interested in participating or attending the GK3
event?

Basically it would be an event to know what everyone is doing and have a
few drinks and discuss geek stiff ... they are concerned that GK3 event
is global event and might not be bridging all that well with the locals.
Alberto and Louise want to connect with the Malaysian Asterisk
community if there's a way to do that outside the venue (i.e. without
entrance fees). Is anything else interesting going on around that time?
I think there is a film festival happening as well and some of the folks
there are interested in telling the story of global technology community
of open source etc. etc. I'm hoping it will be a good week in KL!

cheers,

ps: With another hat on I'm a regular reader of your excellent group
blog on open data formats and other technology and society type issues
questions at openmalaysiablog.com. I've been a reader ever since hearing
about it from Sandy Smeltzer a Canadian academic who studies
communications (across the region but especially in Malaysia). I was
surprised how long it took for me to notice the footer in your e-mails
to the asterisk-bsd list and make the connection :-)
