No, I'm serious. Someone proposed a task that was so easy (in fact, it 
was a feature request with a patch attached) that I had to turn that 
away after looking at it. Patch was from a 4.0 server, that almost 
cleanly applies to 5.0 and 5.1, after a bit of it was corrected

That of course didn't make it to the list for summer of code stuff, but 
things like "Error message prefix" could be dead easy to do. In fact, so 
can benchmarking, esp. since you have 3 months to do it

For a little more challenge, IPv6 support will rock, and will give you a 
greater understanding of mysql internals, as well as how to hone 
networking code

If students are serious, I'm almost certain that we can have at least a 
few google summer of code folk from Malaysia

Might be the first :P Then you'll be a force to be reckoned with *grin*
