[ossig] Kernel-2.6.21 + vmware 5 + tickless kernel - HANG?

Just tried out Linuxpowertop from Intel to see what's eating my
batteries. Based on it's suggestions, I then re-compiled the kernel to
include NO_HZ, HIGH_RES_TIMER and TIMER_STATS.

After that, I keep getting OOps in my kernel and the whole GUI becomes
un-responsive.

SSH works, and had to shutdown -hr now it.

I reverted to the old kernel and things were OK.

Does anyone seen this issue?
